Additionally, Kennel Assistants are responsible for organization in the facility space, assisting with day training drop off/pick ups, maintaining steady laundry flow, washing dishes, daily sweeping & mopping, inventorying & organizing board & train possessions, and completing basic physical inspections & flea checks on in house training dogs. Kennel Assistants will also be involved in assisting the training staff as needed with social sessions with dogs who are working on their people skills.

 

Qualifications: The ideal candidate for this position will have either morning or evening availability, previous experience with dog/animal care, and an interest in dog behavior & training

 

Skills Required: Previous experience caring for animals. Strong organization skills and attention to detail. Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds unaided. A passion for animal welfare. Strong interest in dog behavior and training. Available to work part-time shifts during mornings or evenings, some weekends and major holidays. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Effective written and communication skills. Excellent time management skills.

 

Preferred Skills: Experience with or willing to learn about reading dog body language Experience with or willing to learn about dog handling skills, especially with nervous, reactive, or potentially dog or human aggressive dogs.

 

Location: 4001 E 3rd Street Bloomington, IN 47401 Schedule Requirements: To be considered you must have early morning (6am-10 am) or evening availability (4pm-8 pm) and be willing to work some weekends and holidays.

 

Salary: starting $15/hr - part time hours
